Downtown Streetscape Plan & Parking Study

The Downtown Streetscape Plan and Parking Study, a study undertaken as recommended in the Downtown Plan, was adopted by a unanimous vote by the Village Board at its May 28, 2013 meeting. Key recommendations of the plan and study include additional landscaping, uniform signage and lighting, more pedestrian crossings, brick pavers to enhance the streetscape appearance, Prairie Path enhancements, and policies that create more visible and available parking.

Funded by a $50,000 grant from the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning, the plan and study, along with a Wayfinding and Signage Plan (PDF) and a tax-increment financing district, are tools to help implement the Village’s 2009 Downtown Strategic Plan (PDF). The long-term goals of the strategic plan are anticipated to be met over 10 years.
